A Generic Card

Inspired by THIS pin on Pinterest, I made this card:

I liked it but after deliberating with some blogging buddies Elena and Debby, I revamped the card just a pinch...sometimes a card conference is necessary to bring out your best work.

Supplies:
Stamp: Petal Party by Penny  Black
Dies: Tag die by Penny Black
Other: versamark and white embossing powder

Ever have an occasion and look at your stash of cards and have NOT A SINGLE card that fits. I think to myself, for goodness sakes I make cards and I got NOTHIN'. So I decided a generic card stash was in order and came up with this one. Could be good for any occasion really. I like to do a self test:

Sympathy? Sure the kraft makes it somber
Birthday? Why not, it's fresh like another year about to start for the birthday recipient
Anniversary? You betcha, it's a LOVE-ly card!

If your card meets all the requirements, you have yourself a perfect GENERIC card!

Tied Up

Did you know there are 40+ different ways to tie a knot? I mean a bow can get "old" after a while.

This actually "ties in" with the sentiment well. Tying a knot on your finger to help you remember to do something, and in that same fashion, the knot on the card pays homage to the sentiment "thinking of you"!

I am not sure what type my card has, but this is what happens when you "cut the rope" too short. Speaking of...do you know that game? Such a fun app!

Supplies all from i {heart} papers:
Twine: Lawn Fawn
ink: Hero Arts
Tools: stamp-a-ma-jig

Entering this in Casual Fridays challenge using aqua green and orange. is 2 out of 3 good enough?? and the Wplus9 Monday Mood Board. I love the idea of a single image with a beautiful fonted sentiment...in ORANGE :)

My Version of Mixed Media

Seems mixed media is all the rage. I gave it a go. Don't laugh. It's more of a controlled chaos. I hope Yvonne Yamm will be proud. I always have liked her mixed media stuff.

I used Spring Fling and Word Up sets. The twine is the best sturdy jute twine ever made. It's by Lawn Fawn.  These can be found at i {heart} papers!

Here is how I did it:

  2. create the background sentiement graffiti
  3. remove the masking tape and stamp the bunny
  4. attach pearls
  5. add googly eyes
  6. tape patterned paper onto cardstock base
  7. adhere the stamped bunny image to card with pop ups
  8. tie twine

some stickles for the hearts...

and the final card:

Supplies:
Stamps: A Little Lovin' and Simply Said by Paper Smooches,
Die: Notebook die Paper Smooches
Other: Sequins Avery Elle, twine hemp

it felt nice to make this card. no pressure, just created something fun. I didn't think about how I was gonna push myself to creative limits or how to manipulate it so I can enter it in a 100 challenges. I just made it. and it was nice :) This is why I started making cards, to be creative and artistically expressive...a gift I got from my father.

I am NOT a People Person, but...

You know when you are little and don't appreciate the deliciousness of a good zucchini? Well that's how I am with people imaged stamps. I wasn't joining that movement, until I met Mimi.

This little Penny Black girl named Mimi has stolen my heart. And sadly, I don't color so it's hard to make her shine without also adding copic coloring skills to my design repertoire. Slowly easing into this medium, so be nice :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Penny Black Mimi's Farm, April Showers, chat bubbles die
Copics

I am entering this in Casual Fridays Challenge: BUTTONS! see the little button brad on her hat :)
